13: It's alright to enjoy things

 So, recently while browsing YouTube, I've seen some... Weird takes. Basically, someone was talking about how they liked reading BL Stories and immediately got called gross by like, 5 dudes all proclaiming to be gay. I understand why they'd have that reaction, to be fair. Queer people often get fetishized by others and it's, y'know, not great. But that doesn't mean you should overcorrect like this. It's alright to read a story about two gay guys falling in love and think it's cute. Would you be thinking the same if i was reading any generic straight romance instead? Probably not. I don't think villanizing queer romance like this is doing anything positive. Good, well written BL stories can be great representation, just like any other form of media, and can help people that otherwise wouldn't have otherwise empathize with queer people. Saying that people who read these stories are evil or gross or whatever is just stigmatizing talking about gay romance. Be mad at the bad, fetishizing BL stories and the people that read those. Don't throw the whole genre under the bus.
